Collection of Blood Samples at RIVM Kicks Off

Last week marked the beginning of the plasma sample collection at the Dutch National Institute for Public Health and the Environment (RIVM). Researchers from UMC Utrecht, bundled up in protective clothing, braved the freezing conditions of -30°C and -80°C storage freezers to retrieve blood samples dating back as far as 35 years. The process of gathering these special samples is an undertaking spanning nine sessions in the cold. Special thanks to RIVM, Annemarie Teitsma, and Petra Vissink for their coordination and support in making this possible.
With the samples now being collected, measurements can begin soon!
